As well as coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and the Rockstar Games Launcher on PC, the remastered games are also coming to Nintendo Switch, making this the first time a GTA game has been on the Nintendo console. The developer has stated that the games will feature various upgrades, including graphical improvements and gameplay enhancements more akin to modern releases. The games have been revealed just ahead of the 20th anniversary of GTA 3, happening on October 22. The news comes alongside the announcement of GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, which will be a collection of enhanced versions of GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas.Īfter months of leaks, rumours, and speculation, Rockstar has finally confirmed remasters of the three popular GTA games will be releasing as a single package later this year. It's possible that even though the collection needs to be bought as a whole, you won't have to download all three of the games included at the same time. It's unclear whether the games can be downloaded individually or have to be installed all at the same time. What's interesting is that the collection has been broken up into three different file sizes, obviously because it is technically made up of three different games.
A promising revelation when it comes to the quality of the remasters, but a punch to the gut of those having to delete other games to make room for it. They're all at least three times bigger than the OG games, with San Andreas's file size clocking in at seven times more than the original. The tweet above compares the Definitive Edition's file sizes to the versions of the games previously available on PS4.
